Cooperating with the City of Utqiagvik, BUECI has historically provided digging services for families who have a loved one being laid to rest in one of our local cemeteries.
These are the steps that must be taken prior to contacting BUECI to arrange grave digging services:
- Families need to give the City of Utqiagvik as much advanced notice as they can. This will help BUECI in coordinating equipment and operators.
- Families will need to obtain a burial permit from the City. The burial permit must be completed and signed by the City with the plot location identified prior to contacting BUECI.
- After the City permit has been signed and received and all other arrangements have been made, then BUECI should be contacted to schedule digging.
- BUECI can only provide the operator and the machine to bore the holes for the grave. All other accommodations, such as air compressors, jackhammers, shovels and additional manpower, will need to be arranged by the family with the City and other interested parties.
